In the late 1980's, a team of Earth scientists working for NASA sent a very special probe into the sun in order to collect samples of solar plasma for study, not knowing that our solar energy source was populated by a group-minded energy species.  What returned to earth included part of that species.

Forcible ripped from his home, the being that later came to be known as "Lazon" spent months learning to exist apart from the group-mind,

barely avoiding his race's equivalent of insanity.  After stabilizing his mind, he spent another year coalescing his energies into human form, much to the surprise of the science team.  Once he could pass for human, he continued exploring his new form, eventually developing the skill to channel his energies into controlled blasts and fields.

Lazon worked with the scientists in exchange for funds and an agreement never to bother his home - the sun - again.  Having no need of money, housing, food, or the other necessities of human existence, Lazon invested his wealth and formed the SOLUS Collective, a super-group that accepted heroes not generally accepted by others.

Lazon "died" during the first weeks of the first Rikti War, his body disrupted by a Rikti plasma blast.  Ironically, it was during the second Rikti War that he was finally able to bring his energies back together and re-coalesce.

Now, with his abilities and memories severly diminished, he works to regain what he's lost over the years while re-assuming the mantle of leadership over the re-formed SOLUS Foundation, learning - again - how to fit in as an alien on an alien world.
