When Phoenix Dirk Dark was 21, the angry dad of an amorous 16 year-old cheerleader blacked his eye, knocking him down a manhole.  When Phoenix came to, a wizened old wizard stood over him, or maybe it was a drunken transient.  In any case, the drunk wizened old transient wizard guy said, Shpeak my nuh...my nuhuh...my nuh...name, and y-you will guh...get the powersh of the godsh."  Unfortunately, the old codger passed out before he could slur anything else.  When he hit the ground,
 though, he did make a sound like, "smnjaf."

Now, whenever Phoenix cries out the mystical word, "SMNJAF!" he turns into a pumpkin.  Once that's over, he gets the incredible strength of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the uncanny speed of Jerome "Nike" Miller (a local pickpocket reknown for outrunning the police), the profound wisdom of Betty Nesmith (the inventor of "White Out"), the agility and certain claw-like weapons of Hugh Jackman when he plays that fuzzy-faced "W" guy, the reflexes of Mohammed Ali (when he floated like a butterfly, not a rock), and the innate charm and rugged good looks of Nathan Fillion (you will burn in Hades if you don't know who Nathan Fillion is!)

Phoenix's registered hero name is Captain SMNJAF, but... Well, you can pretty much figure it out from there.
