"Dalghryn" was a name Earth's Police Sergeant Christopher Simpson thought he'd left behind.  It represented fantasy adventures in a world called Rhydin, a universe he accessed through a techno-magical portal given to him by a stranger he'd protected long before.

While in Rhydin, he'd contracted a vampiric virus, battling its darkness until friends found a nano-technical cure.  With the microscopic robots still harbored in his blood, he

eventually retired with his love, Kelsey Nightbreeze - known more famously in Rhydin as Swiftsilver - back to his home, closing the portal down for good.

But enemies, old and new, conspired together to take him from his suburban peace to another fantasy world, the first for revenge, the second to use his gifts for their own purposes.  Stranding him in Paragon City with false memories of happiness with a wife and heroics in a technological battlesuit, the Circle of Thorns planned to use him as a conduit to expand their influence to his world.

His enemies underestimated Swiftsilver's tenacity, however.  Sacrificing their freedom to return home in the process, she found her way to the universe he'd been taken and restored his memories.  Reunited with Kelsey, he gave up the battlesuit, settling again into retirement, satisfied to mentor her in the ways of Paragon City.

But the nanites in his body, always vigilant, had been busy modifying their own function and his DNA to mimic the powers he'd thought abandoned in his closet with the suit.  Now, with innate powers even greater than those he'd hung away, the former police officer from another universe fights crime again, with Swiftsilver at his side.
