I have always been pretty good at cutting deals, tactical negotiations.  When you have lost everything dear to you, it's just that much easier.  I have bartered my body, my mind and my soul to scores of insane shamans and gods of the underworld.  The trick was to give them just enough so they spend as much time as possible arguing amongst themselves as to who gets what.

For my troubles I have been traded power, skill and magic enough to
 avenge my family.  Sure, I turn into a giant axe-wielding fire wolf now, but your average executive can't just go and turn crime fighter because some sickos kill his family.  You need an angle, mine cost me my soul.  I just hope I've given myself enough time.
