CITY OF HEROES - LIBERTY SERVER'S The SOLUS Foundation JACK AND DIANE
A long-time admirer of super-heroes, Jack had taken an interest in the Captain (purely platonic, mind you), frequently visiting to keep up on his progress, but with Cap recevered and gone, Jack and Diane lost touch. Several years later, they bumped into each other at a Wal-Mart Super Store. On a whim, he asked her out. She wasn't at all his type, but she had a body to die for - in a pent-up librarian sort of way - and he was never one to pass up a shot at getting an opportunistic piece, especially when it had been awhile. Like an idiot, she said, 'yes,' figuring it was better than Firefly re-runs. Hours later, they both just thought the date was a disaster. But, when they finally left Pocket D, it got much worse. As they walked out the door of the club, eager to bolt and run, they found themselves instead stuck between a cadre of Rikti and a group of Paragon’s finest. They tried to back out of the fight back into the safety of the club, but an errant Rikti grenade got in their way. The blast threw Diane into a high voltage sign, sending countless watts of elecricity coursing through her body. Jack didn't fare so well, and was vaporized at the same time that he was hit by a mind blast from a Rikti mentalist. His ‘soul’ somehow held fast, ‘Jack’ had only one place to go – inside Diane’s spasming body, now truly 'hot.' Somehow they both survived, stuck in one body like a Paragon City version of The Odd Couple. Trying to make the best of a bad situation until Dr. Lexis can come up with a way to separate them, they do their best to fight crime, using Diane’s electrically infused body to get the job done while bickering over everything from their his and hers leather outfits - a difficult compromise at best - to what gender they’ll ogle, to how long they’ll spend naked in front of mirrors or soaping up certain body parts in the shower. Thanks to Jack, Diane's water bill has doubled, but at least her body's squeaky clean.
