Martin Jeffries was only 16 when he became the head of research and development at D.A.T.A.  A brilliant scientist and innovative inventor, Martin was the head of a project that would produce a weapon which would turn the tide in Paragon City's war on crime: The AntiGrav gloves.  The gloves succeeded beyond Martin's wildest dreams.  With them, he was able to bend the laws of physics at his will, manipulating kenetic energy and shaping gravitational fields like clay.  Taking

his project a step further, Jeffries donned a mask, and took on the alias of "Push" - becoming a superhero.

Push brought everything to Martin's life that he could've ever asked for: fame, money, power, and respect.  Dropping out of high school, and skipping college altogether, Jeffries became a full-time hero, a celebrity in his own right.  Things would take a turn for the worse, however.  Following the infamous Rikti invasion, Martin's parents were killed by a patrol of Rikti footsoldiers.  Grieving for their loss, Jeffries retired his gloves, and cast off his mask - seemingly forever.

Falling into a downward spiral, Martin sunk deeper and deeper into despair.  But, as Paragon recovered, so did his sanity.  After the Rikti invasion was finally dispatched, hope shone through to every citizen of the city - including Jeffries.  Once again donning his gloves, Push returned to the scene - determined to rid the city of anyone or anything that would dare threaten an innocent life.
