I was born on a distant planet, if 'born' is what you want to call it.  I was created by the Louyds (Loo-oyds), a humanoid race not unlike Earthlings, for one purpose: to serve.  Until I was first powered up, only machines made of a soft alloy - virgimn - served the Louyds.  These machines were called Virgies.  They wore out easily, were expensive to make, and were costly to the general population that had such a high demand for them.  But, I was different!

I was made by a Louyd named Chyi Pejt, a leading tech for Pejtgoil Industries.  He took a fertilized Louyd egg, and replaced everything but the skin with virgimn and other machine systems and parts.  It took him twenty Earth years just to make me.  That time didn't include all of the failures that came before me.  I was his only success, and he kept me as his very own servant.

When I say servant I mean slave - a slave that he constantly broke and abused.  And, to top it off, he continuously ran tests on me in order to perfect the process.   I was reported as the perfect servant, everything the people of Louyd could wish for.  If only they could make more.

I was all the rave...until the day I ran away.

I didn't go far, just to a quite meadow, but that was all it took.  I'd proven I could think, and though I was returned, they found that one of Peht's assistance had neglected to replace my Louyd brain and that, somehow, my Louyd fluids had interacted with the virgimn alloys to create an electricity-based life blood!  Chyi Pejt's great accomplishment was actually a great accident.

On Louyd, if you can think, then you are.  If you are, than you cannot serve.  That is how it is written in Kikham de' Tjyu Shjui v'Ftuhjtg (The Laws).  It is slavery, and even if the being is willing, it is forbidden.  Afters much deliberation and expense, the Keepers of v'Ftuhjtg decreed that I 'was.'  They ordered the experimenting to stop and all documentation destroyed.  Pejt was executed to prevent any "further contamination".

They dubbed my species Louvir

The people, however, found this to be an outrage, a conspiracy.  I was abandoned by Pejtgoil Industries.  I started stealing for food.  I had to kill, burying my morals, resorting to crime.  But, the Kikham had retreated to their solitude, leaving me to the Louyds, who could do nothing about me that was considered legal.  As a last resort they hired an up and coming Earth heroine, fresh from Paragon City, to fix their problem.  And, as was the way of most people raised on battle, their solution was to have me destroyed.

We battled for weeks, neither the victor, until I finally got the upper hand.  But, even after such a lengthy fight, I could not deliver the killing blow.  Despite what the people thought, I was not evil.  On seeing this, the heroine helped me fake my death, satisfying the lusts of the Louyd.  Then, she brought me here, to Paragon City, and gave me the money the Louyds had paid her so I could have something to start on and help me get a job at Cooke's Electronics.

It wasn't long until I became aware that Paragon City needed a great deal of help.  I began using my innate mechanical skills to develop devices for heroes to use on the battlefield.  Since I didn't really care for the name Louvir, which reminded me of the human word 'Lucifer' coming from human lips, I renamed myself Virlou.  It wasn't long before I was on the streets myself, trying to fight off the clockwork.  I developed my UUCG device not long after that.  With these I can convert my lifeblood into electrical attacks.  Since then I have created many
personalized devices to aid in my crime fighting cause, all using my lifeblood for power.

While in costume I'm known as Techna Veins, but in my off time I work for Cooke's Electronics under the name of Virlou Johnson.  I couldn't ask for more than the life I have, and I am glad to call Paragon City my home.
